The CytoFluor 4000 Multiwell Fluorescent Plate Reader is available ONLY to pretrained personnel. If you have been trained you may schedule and use the facility. To assist those of you who are trained, but use it seldom, below are the basics of turning on and off the instrument, and hints for use. PLEASE do NOT attempt to use the system based only on these instructions. Please email Sue DeMaggio to schedule a training session or with questions or problems with the system, or in my absence, Amber Neben is available to help in emergencies.
1. The Cytofluor 4000 power and the computer are turned on at the power strip between the computer and the plate scanner.
2. The software is launched with the icon on the desktop
called CytoFluor. The main screen with appear. Do not attempt to run the
software from these instructions. Training is available on the use of the
CytoFluor. Contact Sue DeMaggio or George Ehring for training or questions.
Turning off the system is basically the opposite of turning it on.
1. Exit the software and shutdown windows from the computer desktop.
2. Turn off the powerstrip which controls the computer. This will turn off the plate reader too.
3. Be sure to log your use into the log and record the number of plates you read as well as the time. You are not charged but a log of the use of the system will help us determine the need for such systems and our service to researchers. Thanks
If neither Sue nor George are available, you may look up any questions in the
manual on the top of the Microinjector power supply or contact PerSeptive Biosystems for
technical support at 800-899-5858.
