The Zeiss Axiovert Inverted Microscope / Eppendorf Microinjection Workstation is available ONLY to pretrained personnel. If you have been trained you may schedule and use the facility. To assist those of you who are trained, but use it seldom, below are the basics of turning on and off the instrument, and hints for use. PLEASE do NOT attempt to use the Microscope based only on these instructions. Please email Sue DeMaggio to schedule a training session or with questions or problems with the system, or in my absence, George Ehring is available to help in emergencies.
1. The Hg Lamp control is found on the cart at the right rear of the vibration isolation table.
2. The tungsten white light lamp for the microscope is found at the right of the microscope on the vibration isolation table.
3. The Eppendorf MicroInjector has two power switchs, one on
the back of the transjector 5246 and the other on the back of the Micromanipulator control
boxes.
Turning off the system is basically the opposite of turning it on.
1. Turn off the power switch on the microinjector.
2. Turn off the individual lamps.
3. Be sure and log into the log on the shelf below the controllers on the cart. It is in the same blue notebook as the manual. You are not charged but a log of the use of the system will help us determine the need for such systems and our service to researchers. Thanks
If neither Sue nor George are available, you may look up any questions in the
manual on the top of the Microinjector power supply or contact Eppendorf for technical support at 800-645
3050.
