You may now schedule the use of any of the facilities from your net browser. Please email Sue or Steve Carlyle for the resource (user) names and passwords.
1. On your browser go to the web address: calweb.bio.uci.edu:8100. You will
be prompted to enter the resource (user) name and password. note:
From the OBC computers, you can go to the bookmark caLANdar for access to this
website. If you need a list of the facility names and passwords, please contact Sue or Steve.
For security reasons, this is not available over the internet. The next screen
will show the appointments for the current day
2. Choose the day you want to schedule the use of any particular
resource by one of 3 methods, clicking on the arrow to the right of the Today
button, selecting the date in the box at the far left, or the calendar in the center
between them. This allows you to see if there are any other appointments on
the day you are interested in, and note what times they are. Because of a KNOWN
"feature" of the program, it is extremely easy to schedule conflicts.
5. To schedule your appointment, click on New Appointment directly
above the calendar. This pops up a dialog box where you type in your name, phone
number, and PI, and another pop-down-menu line where you can select the times to go on and
off. PLEASE NOTE: The WEB Scheduler recognizes duplicate or overlapping
appointments with only a small yellow exclamation point in the box marked Current Guest
List / Status. The only way you can tell if you have a conflict of times is the
appearance of this exclamation point. If one appears, please recheck the schedule of
the facility and choose another time. PLEASE watch the times carefully
to assure that the persons before and after you are not overlapping any time.
To avoid dispute, if you are scheduled on the Computer calendar, you are the
official user; those who arrive without appointments will have to yield to those who have
one on the calendar. If you have any questions or problems, please email or call me
at x4110 and I'll be happy to help you. Thanks. Sue DeMaggio MOM (Manager of Machines)
